Atlantis is prepared for launch day
by Terezia Palickova

NASA (Jan. 30): "Our Managers formally set the launch of space shuttle Atlantis for Feb. 7 "At 2:45 p.m. EST. should start the Spaceship. But there is one problem. During inspection on Tuesday it was found a braided metal hose, which carries Freon to cool the shuttle's system. The problem was fixed. And the inspectors will meet at Saturday to evaluate all information about the hose again. The Space Shuttle Program Manager Wayne Hale says: "I'm feeling very positive we'll come to a good conclusion." So it seems that there are no other problems which could stop the vehicle from its flight. Stephen Frick is the one who will enjoy the beautiful view of the Earth from the space. "It's just astounding and amazing" he says. "It's more beautiful than the highest mountaintop you have ever seen. " The very critical moment as he says was his first mission. As they were flying above the Pacific he just realized the real beauty and hugeness of it and than suddenly he saw the Hawaiian Island passing underneath them. It was the best sight ever. "It really burned into my memory". He also describes his feelings when he first stood on the board. He always feels very busy at the beginning of the flight. He also feels a little uncomfortable in the special suit looking into the never ending darkness of the space in front of them. So, for now there is everything prepared for the next launch to the space, everybody from NASA is really excited and can't wait till Feb. 7.

A New Project for Stewart
by Jana Passova

Stewart International Airport is for many people one of the less famous airports of New York. It is located south from Hudson Valley just 55 miles from New York. In the first half of 20th century it was a military base for aviation cadets. Later it became the major passenger airport for the mid-Hudson region. It also serves as a military airfield or in case of need the place where the space shuttle can land. Because of increasing problems with overcrowded Kennedy International Airport, Newark and La Guardia Airports, a situation is starting to be indefensible. The problem should work out a new project of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. They have huge plans with this airport. It should become a state-of-the-art facility, a place which will attract a lot of old as well as new passengers. It also has other important issues. It should become a medium that will bring a new economical power to the region and development in aviation. According to the general manager of the airport, it would serve about 900, 000 travelers of not only charters but international flights as well in 2008. Stewart offers to the travelers easy way how to get to the airport, comfortable parking and terminals, cheaper flights, fast service and also time that passengers spend in Skybuse is shorter. And this is not enough. In the close future there are supposed to be built stores, restaurant and terminals that will be based on green energy like a contrast to the gas emissions of plans.

New space tourist is going to taste the universe
by Edina Erdelyiova

The son of former NASA astronaut Owen Garriott is going to try the weightless condition. He will be the next American space tourist of the International Space station (ISS). Richard Garriott, a creator of the Ultima series of online computer games, doesn ' t feel terrified about his space journey. According to his words, the incoming event seems to be quite trouble free. His work will consist of performing protein crystallization and Earth observation experiments and he will also have to make a photographic collection of sites, which his father observed from Skylab 30 years ago. Garriott' s payment of $30 million, which he had to lay down, responds to his interest and ambition for the space research. Two professional spaceflyers will also launch to the ISS with him thanks to this amount of money. Althought Richard doesn' t expect major difficulties, there can appear some problem in communication. As Garriott is an American citizen and he has never learned any foreign language except his mother tongue, the Russian language can be a hard nut to crack for him. To avoid unpleasant situations and to do his best for the journey, he is going to study not just the working conditions of Russsian Soyuz spacecraft, but also the Russian language. Garriott is also a big fan of Russian cosmonaut Sergei Volkov, commander of Expedition 17. Volkov, if all goes according to plan, will return to Earth with the U. S. space tourist later this autumn. Garrriott hopes to know him personal and as he said, he would work hard to get a chance to meet him just before he flies. Because Richard wants to note his big experience with ISS and all the happenings during his flight for the people, who are also interested in things like this, he will enable his chronicle of spaceflight training and mission. The persons concerned can read it at his personal Web site: www.richardinspace.com. Edina Erdélyiová

Next Space Tourist Begins Training for Spaceflight
by Luba Svata

Space Adventures is the world `s leading space experiences company and it is takes place in Vienna with an office in Moscow. In 2001, they started organizing commercial missions to the space. Tis company organized the space flights for the world ` s first private space explorers: Dennis Tito, Mark Shuttleworth, Greg Olsen, Anousheh Ansari and Charles Simonyi. Now, the next orbital space flight client became the computer game developer Richard Garriott. He is 46 years old and is one of the most famous game developers and publishers. A lot of people are interested in flying to the space, but at this time Richard had the luck. He is the sun of a former astronaut Owen Garriott. May be this is why he has such an interest of seeing the space. Flying to the space is very interesting, but a little dangerous too. All people have to get through education and training. Richard has to go through all these too, but he is excited about that. True, he has nothing else to do anyway and with his fat bank account he has to nothing to do the rest of his life. His flight is planned on October and he has already begun with his training in Yuri Gagarin Training Center in Star City, Russia. How far one can go, if he wishes to let his dreams come true. Richard is looking forward for his flight. He feels very honored about his stay in Russia, and he promised to learn as much as possible. He finds all the stuff he is doing in Russia very interesting, so it wont be a problem for him. Only a few people can worth such a luxury. The flight and all the required trainings and education cost him 30 million American dollars. Nothing real for a regular human being. After everyone found out that Richard Garriott is going to fly to the space a lot of corporations and non-profits started contacting the Space Adventures because they wanted to participate in Richard` s space mission. People who are interested, including commercial parties and non-profits can take apart in Richard` s space flight as you can see on his web site (www.richardinspace.com). Mr. Garriott will be updating this web site continuously. You can see there a lot of amazing videos and pictures. Blog entries and individuals can ask questions or suggestions for Richard `s mission activities. Well, we all wish you good luck Richard!

Webcam in Yellowstone
by Lenka Filipova

A new really appealing opportunity for "passive visitors" has come recently in Yellowstone. For those who can not visit the amazing park and observe all rarities created by nature there is possibility to watch all of these just by eye. Yellowstone, as one of the places where is a collection of the world's most extraordinary geysers, has installed webcams focusing on the Old Faithful area. They monitor in real time and the most recorded is natural phenomenon- the Old faithful geyser. It is the most popular geyser in the world. It was the first geyser that has its actual name. It was named in 1870 during the Washburn - Langford & Doane expedition. Admittedly, the rest of geysers situated within Geyser Hill are monitored too. The short five minute movie records the stream and scorching drifts of water into the air form 20 up to 75 feet. As the eruptions are fairly regular (approximately every 20-30 minutes) you can observe the audio as often as you wish. What is more, webcams can provide you with essential and crucial hydrothermal conditions in the park, thus serving as the advisor whether to strike out for the Yellowstone National Park visit or no. As a viewer you may also see scenery of the Park and the tourists wandering around. However, there is one substantial matter to add. As these webcams are only the tentative, the park functionaries warn that the cameras may not be working all the time as the sour weather conditions and intense winter might be the obstacle.

One world One dream
by Zuzana Valkova

This is the slogan of the 29th Olympics Games 2008. This year the organizing country is China, exactly Chinese city Beijing. Chinese people can't wait to this August when everything starts. The Games will last 16 days, from August 8 to August 24. In Beijing, they are almost ready with all the preparations. They built many sport stadiums and places for this. Only in Beijing there are 31 Olympic venues. One of the most famous is Beijing National Stadium. I'm sure that you have already heard about this building. It's huge sport stadium, which looks like a bird nest from outside. It has very special construction and it took 4 years to build it. It has also a huge seating capacity, about 80000 seats. The opening and closing ceremony will be hold there. After opening ceremony it will be place for soccer games and athletics. They are planning to use this stadium after the Games for sports and cultural activities. Another special building, built exactly for these games is Watercube & swimming pool. From outside it looks like a huge cube full of bubbles. At the top of the building is Teflon-like material, so this allows the building to breathe. After the Games, they want to rebuild it for shopping, sport and culture center. Beijing has already mascots & the Fuwa. Fuwa literally means Good luck dolls. Every one represents something else. They are: fish, fire, panda, Tibetan antelope and swallow. They have something in common with Chinese elements, but only roughly. So this summer belongs to China. I hope they will have great Games and show us that it's not about winning, but about people being together and happy.

Letisku Stewart sa blyska na lepsie casy
by Zuzana Moravcova

Getting hip-tronic
by Claudia Sonea

Nowadays the Internet rules over communities all over the world, from social networks to services' sites. You can do most of your work by tapping the buttons of the computer, searching for scholarships, work, buying products, finding jobs, booking to theatre or cinema or a concert. Also the thing that most interest people is how they get to different places and that is why they want to have a way of checking flights between cities, countries, or to book a train/bus ticket. Furthermore, there are now means of getting the desired information directly from the mobile phone. American Airlines announced on Thursday that it has upgraded its mobile Web site in order to offer customers the possibility to check in for flights and look at itineraries on their Web-enabled cell phones. Later on, the service will be expanded giving the customers the opportunity to book flights, change reservations and request upgrades from a Web-enabled device. It is expected for the service to become available in spring. The Web site of American Airlines recognizes users of mobile devices and directs them to a mobile version of AA.com, according to their official statement. The content will be more condensed than it usually is on a regular site for users of desktop or notebook computers, but in exchange it will facilitate navigation from a mobile device. An innovation in the world of cell phones and their use in everyday life, this service sound appealing and I'm looking forward to use it, as well as many others. Enjoy!

Tickets, tickets, tickets!
by Zuzana Valkova

How do you like buying fly tickets? I hate it. I really don't like, when I have to sit in front of the computer for hours and searching all the internet sites to find the cheapest ticket. And I'm always mad because I can't find anything good and when I find something that would fit me, it has some catch. You can't change the date or the cancel conditions are inconvenient. I know that buying the ticket through some agency is easier, but who wants to pay agency for thing you can do by yourself. But to be honest, I used agency many times, because I'm not going to have a nervous breakdown because of ticket. Ticket is the most important part of your trip. Without ticket you are lost. You can't get your boarding pass, because that one you can get only with a valid ticket. And without boarding pass you can't fly. This problem you can usually have when you have paper ticket. With electronic ticket you need only your reservation number and they will print your ticket directly on the airport. This is my favorite way how to book tickets, because I'm able to forget that printed one anywhere. Electronic one I can save to my mobile phone or it is still in my mailbox. I was trying to find what is usually in the price of the fly ticket. Main part of it is price for the fuel, which is still higher. Other parts are for administration and for the services you have on the board. But this is different every time, and it depends where and which company you are flying with.

Amazing Whistler
by Barbora Misakova

If you are one of those who are tired from city, cars, its smell and constant noise you will probably welcome a change. Even though there is probably only few places on this planet where you could be completely alone, there are still places where people won't interrupt you but help you to feel more comfortable and relaxed. One of such places has name Whistler Village. First of all I should probably tell you it is not such isolated place, actually it is a center which has its own town hall, fire and police station, you can even find there museum, library, shops and go for a lunch into more than 90 restaurants. Now you are probably saying: "OK but I want to take a rest, I don't want to talk to people what, honestly, I am doing whole the time I am in the city." But I think as soon as you see this place you will love doesn't matter how many people is there! Whistler is a city and a part of ski center Whistler Blackcomb in Canadian British Columbia. It has more than 9 thousand inhabitants and more than 2 million visitors come here during a year. This little city lies about 44 kilometers from the city Squamish and these days it is known as one of the best ski resorts in North America. Ski season usually starts in November and ends sometimes in June & for skiing is used higher Blackcomb Mountain. However if you are one of those who love to ski in the summer then this place would be a heaven for you, because summer skiing and snowboarding season is scheduled to run through July. Of course you don't have to ski all the time. This place is known also for its great mountain-biking conditions. So what do you think? Are you ready to visit this incredible place? If you do, prepare your wallets, this place is not called gorgeous paradise just like that! Only standard daily lift ticket costs $ 81, and if you wanna learn how to ski & one group lesson for adults including lift ticket costs $ 77. The fact there is everything what a man could need during his holidays makes this place quite expensive. This place besides this also won Livable Communities Award in 2005 and in 2010 it should be the place where Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will take place. If my words still didn't persuade you about the unique of this place go and convince yourself on your own.

Did you know that also such an young and extraordinary kind of art as ice sculpture and ice painting has its own museum? To create his spectacular paintings, Halloran uses portable refrigeration technology based on aluminium plates, which efficiently conduct the cold.

Tracing back history
by Claudia Sonea

Henry David Thoreau who lived from 1817 to 1862 was an American author, naturalist, transcendentalist, tax resister, development critic, and philosopher who is best known for "Walden", a reflection upon simple living in natural surroundings that he discovered during a two-year retreat in a small house on Walden Pond, in his hometown of Concord, Mass. There are many scholars that are still treading on his work and try to get the essence of it. A retired longtime editor of Vermont Life magazine called Tom Slayton, age 66, read three years ago "Walden" and he was instantly seduced by it, thus deciding to visit the author's other earthly muses and make a book of it. After a careful preparation he went on a three years quest in New England searching for Thoreau. As a result, a 240-page paperback entitled "Searching for Thoreau: On the Trails and Shores of Wild New England" was released describing in lyrical detail the flora, fauna and all the paths Thoreau walked 150 years ago, from Cape Cod, Walden Pond, to Maine's Mount Katahdin. Costing $ 18.95, Slayton's book that staring December can be found on bookshelves all over US, is a literary analysis of "Walden" and other lesser-known Thoreau works with descriptions of Slayton's visits to the places that inspired Thoreau and his own perception of the places visited. His narration reveals a raging wilderness of Gothic peaks, plugs of granite and breathtaking views. The expectations regarding this book are high and although Slayton says he's just a journalist trying to get people's interest into the Walden Universe. Will he succeed? That's up to you: the buyer.

Writers predict the future of traveling
by Martina Harvanova

Everything began decades ago with the literature and consequently, the authors' imagination. Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon outlined the topic of lunar visits. The aspirations to depict the future space traveling are best remembered in science fiction works, such as Arthur C. Clarke's A Fall of Moondust or Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl and many others. The theme of space visits became pretty popular although nobody would ever consider the plot would become true. In 1957 Robert A. Heinlein's short story The Menace from Earth was one of the first to incorporate elements of a developed space tourism industry within its framework. During the 1960s and 1970s, there spread a common belief that space hotels would be launched by 2000. Many futurologists around the middle of the 20th century speculated that the average family of the early 21st century would be able to enjoy a holiday on the Moon. We apparently haven't filled their expectations, but these imaginations and ideas raised in the past seem to get still more present. Virgin Galactic, a company known for its business of space travels, unveiled SpaceShipTwo, the vehicle which is designed to take passengers about 62 miles above Earth. However, passengers aren't paid for their discoveries in the space as astronauts are. On contrary, they have to pay to the voyage. But it doesn't make them any problem, they do it just for the fun of it. The "fun" is conceived to cost about $200,000 apiece. The company already has some potential customers. About 200 prospective passengers from 30 countries have made reservations. To maintain the safety the travelers need to attend test flights which will possibly begin this year. The company by itself acknowledged the project has risks, but added "the spacecraft will be at least as safe as early commercial airlines in the 1920s." The first "private space visitor" is considered to be Dennis Tito, an American businessman, who was able to pay a fortune to see International Space Station (ISS) for seven days in 2001. He was followed in 2002 by South African computer millionaire Mark Shuttleworth. The third was Gregory Olsen in 2005. The first three participants paid in excess of $20 million for their visit to the ISS. Some of us are satisfied with holidays somewhere in a mountain cottage, most of us travel to the seaside and to be frank, there are some that can't afford even to think about vacation. For those who scorn a traditional way of spending holidays and don't want to get bored while lying on the beach, I have a suggestion. Let's rent a space ship!

Searching the happiness
by Claudia Sonea

There is no other thing more desired than happiness and since the dawn of humanity it was a real quest to find it. Not few people wrote about it and no one is surprised anymore about a book treating this subject. However, the book that Eric Weiner wrote is definitely an innovating one, approaching happiness from geographical perspective. Called "Geography of Bliss", the book is philosophy, part psychoanalysis, part cultural studies lesson and has as main premise that you must travel in order to find happiness. Weiner, a correspondent for National Public Radio and a self-described grumpy person, travels to the spots that rank highest and lowest regarding happiness and seeks what on earth is causing all this joy, or lack of joy as the case may be. Ruut Veenhoven from Rotterdam, The Netherlands who runs the World Database of Happiness and is the "godfather of happiness research" will help him in his quest. The starting point is Switzerland which ranks high on the happiness scale. A reason for all the happiness may without any reason of a doubt: chocolate. Next on list is Bhutan, where the Gross National Happiness was declared more important than Gross National Product. For the inhabitants happiness means to know your limitations. The third country that ranks in happiness is none other than the luxurious Qatar and the reason might be…of course it is money! Iceland is another country that ranks in happiness and the reason is culture, says Weiner, but the fact that they are most of the time drunk and isolated might also be an answer. For them failure it is not such a bad thing after all. In Great Britain happiness is most likely to appear in a pub, while in India it is bound to contradictions. If you were wondering why Thailand is such a happy country then the answer is simple: not thinking too much. On the Other side all the way to another continent, the residents of US perceive happiness as a search of happiness. It is a wonderful book with a slightly ironic style of description and funny in the same time. Discovering countries and the way they see happiness or they try to reach it turns out to be just what the doctor prescribed. What are you waiting for, go ahead, purchase it. Satisfaction guaranteed!

When to Buy an Airfare?
by Daniela Simkova

Have you ever wondered about the pricing of the airfares? I wonder how it works, why some airfares are cheaper than others and why their cost still increases or decreases. When all the special offers appear on the screen and when all the airlines show their updates for the available seats? Assen Vassilev, a co-founder of the Lessno.com Web site and the company's CEO says: "Our experience with airlines has shown us that they update available seats around 12 a.m. Eastern time every day." The special offers are usually released and automatically added on Thursday, at night. Then you can assume, if you seek for the cheap airfare, that the best time for booking your airfare is the late night on Thursday. Important thing is to book your airfare off the travel season. Some travel destinations are cheaper during the winter and in other cases the price erupts to the top. Obviously the price of an airfare is higher when the Christmas or any other holiday is coming that means that you should book your airfare long before the holiday or some time after the holiday. The best you can do is to stay informed about all the special offers. The airlines usually offer this service, they will keep you posted though your e-mail so then you should not have any problems to find a cheap airfare.

A new guide for travelling with children
by Lenka Filipova

A new comprehensive book has been published recently by Fawzia Rasheed de Francisco, who worked as public health advisor for 16 governments and the UN, inspired by own experiences with her two sons. Due to the fact that for her job an extensive travelling was a mater of necessity, she took her children together at every possible place she could. The book is named respectively to its content, e. i. "The Rough Guide to Travel with Babies & Young Children" ($15.99). She began the journey when her younger son was only two weeks old and the older one was just about one year. They have together managed to journey within Africa, Asia (South and South East), America (North and South), The Caribbean and Europe. Thanks to this book, we are all provided by the all pieces of crucial and necessary information about trip planning, dealing with challenges, entertaining the kids while travelling, variable cultures, and other essential advices in this splendid book. In addition to this, the book is packed with tips concerning behavior expected in various countries. For instance, in India it is necessary to make your kids apologize for even an unintended kick as any touch of foot is being seen as offensive. The other example says that if a child shows just a slight inconvenience, it is considered as really well educated child. And probably one more handy advice, do not tap your child on the head before knowing the consideration of it in a particular country. It is thought in most of the countries as very outrageous. You can also find the issues connected with prevention against diseases or other very common disconformities like malaria or tummy bugs; then very compelling way of recording the places with the photos of your children corresponding with the date.

No liquids...and no lithium batteries as well
by Martina Harvanova

The travelling conditions especially for those going from the United States will apparently worsen caused by the latest restrictions of the U. S. government. The fact not even predicted few years ago seems to become true nowadays. Who would have ever calculated with the ban to carry liquids on the board? And at the present it tends to be common, furthermore, not only throughout the U. S. The newest rule states: no lithium batteries in your checked luggage. Weird? The explanation is as following. The introduced in-flight regulations should reduce a possible danger of fires on the plane. The restrictions commanded by the U. S. Department of Transportation have become effective since January 1st. As mentioned, passengers are not permitted to carry more than two loose batteries. However, the code applies only to batteries containing between 9 to 24 grams of equivalent lithium content, while these must be packed in separate plastic bags. First of all, companies producing cell phones as well as notebooks started to worry about the case. Although the circumstances seem to deteriorate their business, the anxiety of theirs fortunately isn't the issue. Most lithium-ion cell phones and standard notebook batteries don't exceed the level of eight grams of lithium and consequently they aren't affected by the regulations. Another interesting fact shows that the specification whether the rule applies just to the U. S. citizens or to anyone departing from the U. S. hasn't been solved yet. Although the causes for these restrictions are claimed to be safety issues, there is another possible reason & the matter of security. The story that terrorists hide bombs in college textbooks with detonators in the lithium-ion batteries of various electronics isn't just a wholly fictional plot. Unfortunately, such arrangements are becoming true still more and more. No nail scissors, no liquids and now no batteries. Despite their harmless appearance, the use of them amends all the time. Up-to date weapons.

The good deal
by Tatiana Hadarova

With the new possibility of cheap flying, which has been introduced to Slovakia by the low-cost flying companies as Sky Europe or RyanAir, opens to Slovak people another door to discover. Traveling is simply great, but what can be even better is traveling almost for free. I think that lot of people have learned during the recent years how and more importantly -when to buy the cheapest fly ticket. Almost every flying company, even the big ones, offer different kinds of specials to attract their potentional buyers, so if you are lucky and you know when to check the right web pages, you can make a very good deal and travel around the world for a penny. But let's get back to Slovakia. Thanks to these low-cost flying companies possibility to fly got closer to almost everyone. Flying around Europe now costs the same amount as the bus ticket (or sometimes it is even cheaper) and it is more comfortable and faster. We can see that this possibility is used by all kinds of slovak people. Students can get cheaply to countries where they plan to spend their working holidays, people can visit their friends and relatives or just to go on a week-end trip. In this last mentioned thing I see the biggest contribution of low-cost flying. Now I observe that more and more people from young generation use this chance and they discover new countries and cultures, so fortunately, the slovak stereotyp is changing to a better level. And why not? Isn't it just perfect to spend 2 days in the middle of winter at He carneval in Venice or to go for Easter to Paris? Traveling broadens the mind so let's just be online at the right time.

Learning to fly
by Kamila Moravcikova

I have been living near the small airport since I was born. The awful noise when the plane is landing or launching is nothing unfamiliar to me. However, I don't think I can really imagine what it means to live near large airport with really rush traffic and officials trying to cover it by helping people who live further (because it's easier and you are helpful in making the noise a bit reasonable and at least you have some results). I'm saying this as a self-appointed "Dark Side Of Flights And Airports" expert. What I really don't like about flying is....flying. Don't get me wrong, I am not afraid of being in heights or of crashing down. Well, after spending 10 hours in totally uncomfortable seat you you wish the plane would fall down so the pain would stop (if you are the 1st class traveler, you may not know what is this about). I just can't stand the never-ending waiting at the airport, safety controls, delays, missing your plane, realizing that you may spend whole night at the airport, the crabby airport and plane staff driving you crazy. I am exhausted of all the unexpected things that happen to you when you think you finally managed it (baby diaper stuck in lavatory causing that the plane cannot take off/broken brake-gear leading to the cancellation of flight, etc.). One song says "I close my eyes and hope that there's a real smooth flight...this time".

High-speed trains are changing Europe
by Natalia Holvova

There are new possibilities of traveling in Europe using high-speed trains in more and more European places. Traveling by these new comfortably equipped and perfectly working trains can compete with flying by planes, special in the areas where using planes is useless for such a short distance. Paris, London, Brussels and Amsterdam are such a popular European destinations so close to use planes but it can appear very far to use slow and unpalatable trains. This is the past of course, since the high-speed Eurostar trains provide services on this tracks. Sitting in nicely tapestried huge soft seat with possibility of getting coffee, tea or other warm or cold drinks from the bar offer or little snack is making your visit on the board even more attractive. As these trains are mainly used by all kinds of businessmen, the air-conditioned carriages offer Internet connection and daily papers from the countries the train goes through. The sales on the rails where Eurostars started operating last year surged almost double as well as the number of passenger was the biggest in the train traveling history. It is amazing how technology miracles can change our lives. We have more and better opportunities than any generation in the past. Long distance trips up and down the Europe are becoming shorter and we are closer to each other. Businesses are wider and people are globetrotters! The way we live and think is on the top of the history and the only thing we can do is taking advantages of all opportunities we can get.

Game called U.S. elections
by Martina Harvanova

New York, Illinois, Arizona, Massachusetts. U.S. states that offered their candidates to the most prestigious game. Game with the headline: Who is going to be an American president? First two of them are fellows as well as rivals. Both influencing the Democrats and on the other hand fighting against each other in primary elections. Second mentioned couple is related by its preference to Republicans, but the struggle for the president chair separates them. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain, Mitt Romney. One of these most successful senators (governors) will supposedly become the strongest person with huge influence on the Earth. American elections differ from others, for instance in Europe. Candidates are required to dispose of particular virtues, in the main being honest. Cheating or lying isn't trendy among presidents. Menacing example is Bill Clinton and his cheating to everybody and every time whiles the affair of his adultery. His unpopularity was bigger than the one of George Bush currently is and that's shattering. Politics experts claim that another important thing, when somebody wants to run for U.S. president, is being religious. One would say it is weird in such a country where there aren't any common roots, culture or worship that all inhabitants would share. However, it is true. Therefore it is crucial to belong to a church or at least to worship somebody or something. The subject of worshiping isn't important to Americans anymore. On the other hand, aspects of each election are different from year to year. Currently, one of the trends is to attack opponents as much as possible. Romney began with TV commercials against McCain. Although the political issues are vital, the nation doesn't want to listen to long-lasting statements of candidates. Today the important thing is personal appearance and the way one looks or at least appears to the others. Hillary Clinton, for instance, has been reproached for being too little emotional and for lacking on laughter. The most essential issues in election of U.S. president are still war in Iraq or improving the healthcare system. But folks aren't satisfied only with the best solution programs. They need more, and among Americans more means personality. President must be a strong person with the ability to influence masses.

Be A Trafalgar Square Statue!Replace this Title
by Kamila Moravcikova

Yes, this is not a joke. You can really become a part of a Trafalgar Square. If you feel like you are supposed to be the right one, watch out the competition that is being run by London officials in effort to fill the empty „fourth plinth". It is an Antony Gormley´s concept that proposes that there is no use for stone, granite, bronze or an experienced hand of the sculptor. All he needs is a myriad of people staring at the plinth willing to go „onstage" and be an one-hour-statue. And it has even a deeper meaning & it means that you are in individualist we all have to honor. The trouble is whether the weather would be willing to colaborate so he can find some potential statues. And there are five another problems. Another sculptures, projects, designs that were short listed. For example the remains of a civilians vehicle that has been destroyed during an attack in Iraq. And the author is even not trying to pretend that that is an artwork. Well, if you feel like you need a little bit of love you should pray Tracey Emin´s work will win. The Meerkats, small mammals living toghether in desert are designed to be a part of fourth plinth as they are a symbol of unity and safety (and one may ask what happened to woman that created „Everyone I Have Ever Slept With" tent?!). Actually, there are some more artworks & mirrors that "brings the clouds down to the ground" and illuminated peace sign that is powered by wind and the sun. After all this, the replica of Nelson´s ship in a bottle just seems to be incredibly corny. If you are not interested in being a statue, but you would like to join next year competition & what about exposing empty fourth plinth and calling it "Empty Fourth Plinth"?

The "Smoking mountain" active again
by Zuzana Moravcova

Residents of Puebla, Mexico, became eye wittnesses of the incredible performance of Popocatepetl volcano on Saturday. "Judging by the altitude, it is the biggest smoke cloud we've seen in the past seven years," Popocatepetl Operation Plan director Ramon Pena told AFP. This snow capped stratovolcano with forested slopes created 8 km high cloud of ash and dangerously hot steam above the surrounding area, that has been dormant for years. Popocatepetl, often conveniently shortened to Popo, is currently the highst active volcano in the Northern Hemisphere. The name Popocatepetl, meaning "Smoking Mountain", was given to the volcano by the Aztecs, and suggests that the volcano has long been active. Accurate knowledge of Popo's activity reaches back to the first days of Spanish conquest. In historical time, about 30 eruptions have been reported, although documentation is poor. Most historical eruptions were apparently restricted to moderate Vulcanian steam and ash emission. On December 21, 1994, it awakened from dormancy and continues to be active today. In 1996, it killed five climbers at the crater rim by an explosion. This amazing show created little danger for people living on the flanks of the volcano, which separates Mexico and Puebla Valleys, both with more than 20 million inhabitants. However, according to the expert observer, this eruption has not changed the yellow alert, that signals no risk.
