Perhaps it would be interesting how much plane accidents happen in one day of this planet. The amount would be high, but the number of malfunctions in these steal birds crossing our skies would be even higher. A Quantas jetliner was forced to land in emergency mode Thursday early morning in Singapore. A plane carrying 459 people on the board detected technical problem just 15 minutes after taking up. According to official news one of four engines just broke down, but the pilot managed to land safely. What seems interesting is the fact that Quantas Airlines have officialy denied there was an explosion although local people and witness heard loud crash. The double-decker A ! 380 was on its way from Singapore to Sydney. Company's spokeswoman Emma Kearns told that there were no reports on injuries or explosion. She also didn't comment whether the malfunction was connected with the current volcanic erruption in Mount Merapi that has already forced two airlines crossing Indonesian sky to cancel several flights. Merapi that has been active since October 26th is currently covered with the cloud of smoke and dust, erupting lava. The cloud has covered miles and miles of once fertile fields about 850 miles (1,400 kilometers) from western Batam. According to some theories the ash and little pieces floating in the air could be the cause of engine broke down, but this hasn't been prooven yet. At least not for Tatang Kurniadi, the chief of The National Transportation Safety Committee. Local residents in Batam, an island close to Singapore, there were pieces of debris that fell onto houses and close shopping mall.
