As if rich people couldn’t have it harder!? Their money makes them more powerful in most of the spheres of life, maybe except health. But they can even their health influence a bit: by holiday and trips in some super upscale resorts. French corporation of vacation resorts called Club Med, which was founded in 1950, is offering holidays in exotic location mostly to those people who can afford it. Its resorts had and still have a form of some kind of little villages and the first village was opened on the Spanish island of Mallorca. Later, when Baron Edmond de Rothschild started to finance the company, the number of villages increased greatly. Except exotic and hot reso! rts such as those in Tahiti, Caribbean and Florida there had been created also winter villages. Those were providing skiing and winter sports tuition. There are three different types of villages now: family resorts, resorts for everyone and resorts for adult only. From not-for-profit association, Club Med changed to a for-profit public limited company, which is now based on the concept of membership. And I can tell you, that membership is not for everyone. While in May 2010 the resort company operated 75 villages in Europe, Africa, North and South America, the Caribbean, Southern Asia and Australia, in a short future Club Med will be also in China. As officials informed, China’s famous ski resort in Yabuli will host the country’s first Club Med this November. But the plan is to open five such villages over the next five years. As Olivier Horps, the group’s Asia-Pacific Managing Director said: “People are getting richer…we think the next step is! that people, instead of only possessing luxury goods, will wa! nt to al so enjoy new experiences.” Of course, they will have to pay for it.
