by Milota Sidorova

The Watercube, the miracle of Beijing National Aquatics Centre for following Olympical Games dazzles the world. The amazing architectonical piece came into existence by a cooperation of PTW Architects, CSCEC International Design and Arup with structural Engineers, under the leading of German architect, Chris Bosse. The futuristic, organic honeycomb-like facade design and using of special materials the swimming pool centre with a capacity of 17,000, allows more light and heat penetration than traditional glass, resulting in a 30% decrease in energy costs. During the last visit of International Olympic Committee, the Watercube gained more than a lot attributes. "The pool's out of the world . You'd think it was sent in from another planet. "IOC member Kevan Gosper said. He also claimed that it was in every aspect the finest aquatic center he had seen by far for an Olympic Games. Except of common admission, the building was awarded by a special award for the most accomplished work in the section Atmosphere on 9th International Architecture Exhibition & METAMORTH, that took place on Venice Biennale. Critics barely states the stunning way, in which the project mist and air the atmosphere for a personal experience of water leisure. During the Olympics, the Watercube will host the Swimming, Diving and Synchronized Swimming events, while the Water Polo has been moved to Ying Tung Natatorium The structure will have a capacity of 17,000[1]during the games that will be reduced to 6,000 afterwards. It also has a total land surface of 65,000 square metres and will cover a total of 7.8 acres[ The Aquatics Centre will host the Swimming, Diving and Synchronized Swimming events during the Olympics. The Water Polo was originally planned to be hosted in the venue but has been moved to the Ying Tung Natatorium. "The pool itself is awesome," said Jonty Skinner the director of sports science. And one of the members of U.S. delegation. He pointed out only one potential problem & the disorientation of back-stroke racers, whereas the amazing cell structure ceiling doesn' t allow following lines "It's almost like the sky to a backstroker," he claimed. "They may not know where they are going."
