Delta Air to have WiFi access on domestic flights
by Radka Konkolova
I think few years ago there was no possibility to bring switched on cell phone or notebook aboard the plane. Now it is changing. Airways and their management want to meet their passengers’ interests so they decided to introduce WiFi connection to Internet aboard domestic mainline planes.
One of American airways came with this very brilliant idea because their customers are very often businessmen and other important workers who would welcome such possibility immediately. Especially it is interesting when the possibility is in quite advantageous price level. And this one is. I think American Delta Air wants to introduce this not only because of the passenger’s request for comfort but also because it has got some financial troubles, as well as most of other airways. Everybody knows that these problems have been from part caused by high oil prices. So carriers have to think about some solutions which should help them to acquire more money to keep flights in ordinary intervals. And nowadays it seems to be very difficult, especially for low cost carriers. Because they compete to each other they must use their best ideas to persuade potential passengers to fly with their very airways.
People who will use Delta Air for their transport can await WiFi connection will be accessible in every of 330 planes used for domestic flights. The access will cost $9.95 on flights of three hours or less and $12.95 on flights of more than three hours. I think this price is in accessible level while you can be connected the whole time you are aboard. Delta Air expects WiFi to be available on all its domestic mainline planes by the summer of 2009.
You can see here that almost every carrier wants to make journeys more comfortable. Delta Air offers relatively cheap connection to Internet aboard to contrary with JetBlue which offers “eco-friendly†kit including allergen-free pillow and blanket. It is not as easy for them because there is significant competition on the market…
