Learning to fly
by Kamila Moravcikova
I have been living near the small airport since I was born. The awful noise when the plane is landing or launching is nothing unfamiliar to me. However, I don't think I can really imagine what it means to live near large airport with really rush traffic and officials trying to cover it by helping people who live further (because it's easier and you are helpful in making the noise a bit reasonable and at least you have some results). I'm saying this as a self-appointed "Dark Side Of Flights And Airports" expert. What I really don't like about flying is....flying. Don't get me wrong, I am not afraid of being in heights or of crashing down. Well, after spending 10 hours in totally uncomfortable seat you you wish the plane would fall down so the pain would stop (if you are the 1st class traveler, you may not know what is this about). I just can't stand the never-ending waiting at the airport, safety controls, delays, missing your plane, realizing that you may spend whole night at the airport, the crabby airport and plane staff driving you crazy. I am exhausted of all the unexpected things that happen to you when you think you finally managed it (baby diaper stuck in lavatory causing that the plane cannot take off/broken brake-gear leading to the cancellation of flight, etc.).One song says "I close my eyes and hope that there's a real smooth flight...this time".
