Smooth Flight

by Kamila Moravcikova

I have never in my whole life flown during the winter. And I have to thank for that as I am pretty sure that such a situation would necessarily lead to my complete nervous breakdown. Winter means cold and snowing. Snowing means snow on runway. And snow on the runaway is just highway to hell. The hell means delays (in better case) or cancellation (in the worse one), missing connection flight, luggage that you probably not gonna see ever again, mad passengers and nervous and †blamed airline and airport employees even though they are not the ones who can influence the weather (but it much more effective to shout out loud all your anger to the face of innocent flying attendant than to the the apparently careless skies above). And I don't want to think about all the danger that goes together with unfavorable weather. Or maybe I'm just little too negative? But if you were in my shoes, with my experiences, I bet you wouldn't find many things you could be positive about. I went through really dreadful flight once. The whole plane was shaking, all I can remember is me just focused on breathing, trying to persuade myself I was doing fine, the children in a seat ahead crying and crying. I also went through the whole cancellation of my flight because of broken landing gear and unbelievable delay caused by the baby diaper stuck in lavatory. I can remember waiting 30 hours for the next flight, sitting at airport and trying to kill the endless time somehow. I can recall running through the whole airport, all sweat and exhausted just to hear I was too late. And I can never forget the desperate minutes at baggage claim. And all this happened in summer. That's why I'm sure I would hardly handle the winter flight.
