Lincoln's Anniversary

Hodgenville is a small town where Abraham Lincoln 16th president of the United States of America was born in 1809. Now this place is proud and it embraces him as a native son. Although there are places more famously connected with this president. Many of Americans think Lincoln came from Illinois. Only several of them know that president was born in Kentucky. †But locals believe in changes that could come after 200th anniversary. The celebration started on February 12. There are going to be organized more events during a year. People who live there hope the world will know about existence of their small town. Hodgenville is a central Kentucky town where live about 3,000 residents. It was established several years after Lincoln's family moved to Indiana. Visitors who come to the town, they can have feelings that Lincoln is still alive. They can visit the Lincoln Museum with a fresh paint. Visitors can admire here a portrait of this famous person in a life size. Outside, there is a Lincoln statue as the centerpiece of town square. A bank, an elementary school and consignment shop are named by Lincoln. Predictions are talking about twice as many visitors of the Lincoln Museum this year. Usually there come about 30,000 visitors per year. New statue will be unveiled on May 31st in Hodgenville. It will display Lincoln as a child. †Visitors are usually interested in shopping in small downtown gift shop. They are searching for magnets, books, collectible coins, artwork or Lincoln dolls as part of a presidential series.
